Established in 1989 we are a family-owned organic food manufacturer located in Parry Sound, Ontario Canada. Where is that you ask? Well, it's a small town in northern Ontario, a few hours north of Toronto. There really is no better setting for an organic company. We are in the heart of the 30,000 Islands of Georgian Bay which is part of Lake Huron. With a rugged shoreline of granite and windswept pines, and inland lakes everywhere you turn, we are literally surrounded by natural beauty and wildlife which puts us in a great state of mind to create the best tasting organic fruit spreads possible. UNESCO has even recognized this unique part of the world by designating it a Biosphere Reserve.
Crofter's Food Ltd has been manufacturing organic products since the beginning of the trend toward organics. We continue to be family owned and now employ over 40 people making us one of the largest employers in the area.
What We Do
Crofter's makes the best tasting, nutritious, organic fruit spreads possible with 1/3 less sugar than traditional preserves. We support your right to know what is in your food, so you can trust Crofter's to nourish your family with certified organic, Non-GMO Project Verfied fruit spreads with nutritious fruit and just the right amount of sweetness.
How We Do It
Efficient, responsible, meticulous production paired with integrity and passion.
What We Believe
Jam isn't complicated; it's not going to change the world in any big way. By operating a sustainable business - a business that can be sustained environmentally, and by workers, consumers and a profitable bottom line - we can impact the world in many small but measurable ways.
Not all strawberries are created equal. Some are just right for eating but are too delicate for travel. Some are large and beautiful and able to withstand lengthy transport but perhaps are not quite so sweet or delicately textured. Some varieties are just perfect for jam.
Primarily we use Senga Sengana berries, a traditional European variety. Deep red and medium-sized, these heritage jam fruits are well suited for organic agricultural practices, as they've been grown on small farms throughout Europe far longer than farmers have been applying synthetic fertilizers to their fields. Senga Sengana plants don't deliver the largest yields, but they do produce a perfect jam berry
Native to North America, Crofter's blueberries are wild harvested in nearby Quebec. These intensely colored lowbush berries are far more petite and flavor-packed than the cultivated highbush variety common to the produce section at your neighborhood grocery.
Small but mighty, these organic berries are fearless free radical fighters. Learn more about their antioxidant superpowers.
Naturally rich in vitamin A, healthful apricots have been cultivated and enjoyed for thousands of years. We seek growers able to supply us with light-colored, slightly tart fruits. While there are instances in life when a pink or red blush is desired, when it comes to apricots it's a green blush that makes the best fruit spread.
My Review:
Crofter's Organic Premium Fruit Spreads are amazingly delicious! I absolutely love that Crofter's Organic Premium Fruit Spreads are organic and contain 1/3 less sugar than traditional preserves. I tried the above fruit spreads and let me tell you, they didn't last very long in my house. Crofter's Organic Premium Fruit Spreads are incredibly smooth and have just the right amount of sweetness. The fruit taste is incredibly fresh and delicious. Whether you use Crofter's Organic Premium Fruit Spreads for a plain old PB&J sandwich or for making an elaborate apricot glazed ham, you won't be disappointed.
